Sunday, January 30, 2022 Celebrating with Our Parish
This year, due to the COVID pandemic, we will not be able to sponsor our annual OPEN HOUSE. Instead we are inviting all our school families to attend either the 9:30 or 11:30 parish Mass to show our gratitude to our parish community. We hope to have an OPEN HOUSE in the spring!
Monday, January 31, 2022 Helping Our Heroes
We will begin collecting items for a special project for young patients undergoing extended hospital stays of treatments. The students will prepare “Jared Boxes” (www.thejaredbox.org) which will include items that will make time waiting for appointments or treatment a little easier. (Comic books, coloring books, word search puzzles, small games and toys will be packaged in shoebox size boxes that they can carry with them to appointments. We are asking each student to bring one item to school by Thursday, Families can also participate by creating a complete Jared Box if they would like. We will also accept monetary donations.
Tuesday, February 1, 2022 Celebrating Our Students—Dress-Down Day, Absolutely No Homework!
Students may dress casually for the day, but attire needs to be appropriate. We’ll provide an ice-cream treat at lunch! The teachers have promised NO HOMEWORK! Each class will have some time in the afternoon for games!
Wednesday, February 2, 2022 Two, Two, Twenty-two Day
With all the “2’s” in the date, we thought we’d do something special! Students might pair up to dress as twins (same shirts, accessories). They might dress up as famous “duo”s (I suggested “Lucy and Ricky” but no one knew who that is!). Individual students might create a “cut-out twin” for themselves out of poster paper or dress a doll or stuffed animal to accompany them to school. Classroom teachers will send details about what they are planning in their rooms.
Thursday, February 3, 2022 Celebrating Our Work
In keeping with our year-long work with the themes of Catholic Social Justice, we’ll revisit our discussions concerning the dignity or work and of workers. To show their pride in their own work, students will create a “show case” work using their best printing/cursive skills to decorate. Classes can choose a favorite prayer or quote and create a colorful border.
Friday, February 4, 2022 Celebrating Our Teachers, Staff, and Volunteers Special Barraco’s Lunch for students and staff (An order form will be sent)
In the past, we’ve had a St. Germaine Music Review to close out our celebration. Again, due to COVID we are scaling back this activity. Classes and teachers will create some Tic-Toc dance that we will share in a COVID safe way. Look for details as we finalize the details. Students will enjoy an afternoon movie in their classrooms.
